Midyear Planning
2017 is half over. What! How time flies.
Take out your your sunny gold 3rd quarter Success Choice Planner.
The great thing about a new quarter is that it is a fresh slate. Take a few minutes to do your midyear planning and update, or set new goals for yourself.
What obstacles are you facing, and what can you do to overcome them?
Remember not to overwhelm yourself with too many goals at once.
Quarterly Success Choice Challenge
Review each Area of Balance to identify your "ideals" in each area. This creates awareness and helps you think about what is most important to you.
Select your Success Choice Challenge Goals for the quarter. Choose only 1-3 projects to take on this quarter that will take you closer to your ultimate goals. Use the Notes/Creativity Pages to brainstorm. If everything goes as planned, what are your success indicators for the end of each month? Where will you be if you are on track? Write this description in the Notes section at the bottom of your Monthly Calendar page.
Now think about what small tasks will help you accomplish your goals? Especially think about what you can do routinely to contribute to your success. Write these tasks in the right hand column of your monthly calendar under Challenge Notes. Write these tasks for each week.
For example: If you want to lose 12 lbs this quarter, and you are starting at 140 lbs, at the end of July, if you are on track, you should be at 136 lbs, at the end of August, you should be at 132 lbs, and at the end of September, you should be at 128 lbs. You would write these success indicators in the notes section of each month.
To accomplish this, let's say you want to workout 30 minutes 5 days a week, to plan your weekly menu including healthy meal choices, and to fill in your health tracker every day. For the first month, in the right hand column of your calendar under challenge notes, you would write: Workout 30 min 5x, plan menu, health tracker. This will be a reminder as you look at your calendar each day. At the end of the week, you can check them off. If you want, you can also include a reward for sticking with your routine tasks. For example, maybe you put down that you will get a massage or a pedicure if you stick with your routine tasks for the week.
At the end of the month, evaluate where you are and if you are on track. If not, reevaluate your plan and see if you need to do something differently the next month or if you want to adjust your goal.
We are the happiest when we are moving forward getting closer to our ideals in each Area of Balance. Remember that the goal isn't to be perfect now, and it isn't useful to compare yourself with others. Joy comes from progress, not comparison.
Now, get to work! 🙂
