What are 5 things that boost your energy?
If you are like me, you are busy, and you look for ways to boost your energy so you can get it all done.
This month’s focus is CREATE ENERGY RENEWAL. You would be surprised how recognizing and adding a few ENERGY RENEWING things into your day boosts your energy and helps you get more done.
We each have different things that are OUR hot button for renewal. Think about what makes YOU smile and maybe even do a little jig.
5 things that boost MY energy
1- Flowers, and an inviting porch
Flowers and an inviting porch aren’t important to everyone. My husband, for one, thinks it’s a little crazy for me to spend time and money on flowers and throw pillows. For me, however, it is totally worth it. Every time I drive up and see the splash of color and the beauty of flowers blooming, I smile. Each season, I change my pillows and add a few different touches.
It warms my heart and adds spring to my step.
2- Finishing Exercising
Notice I didn’t say exercising, or starting my workout. To be honest, before I work out, I am tired and dreading stepping onto my elliptical. The first five minutes are torture. In my mind, I am thinking of other things I could be doing, debating whether I should just stop and get on with my day. But as I persevere, my energy increases, and by the time I am done, I have all kinds of energy. I am happy I stuck with it, and I do a couple of self-congratulatory fist pumps as I head for the shower.
3- Making progress on a goal
I regularly have projects and goals I am working on. Doing something to move me closer to reaching a goal always gives me energy. Breaking my goals down into some bite size tasks is helpful. If I have a few minutes, I can make a call, send an email, or look up a detail. As I check the item off, the endorphin rush is on. Even better is setting aside a regular time every day to work on a goal, for example, writing for 30 minutes before I wake my daughter up in the morning.
4- A clean kitchen and living room
When home, my family spends most of our awake time in the kitchen or living room, so if these two rooms are clean, we are happier. Conversely, there is something about a cluttered and messy space that puts us all a little on edge.
As I was writing this, I looked around, and no, my surroundings weren’t pristine I snapped a “before” picture and got busy tidying. I only spent 15 minutes cleaning, and BAM, energy. It is so much easier to work without the distraction of the mess.
5- Connecting with loved ones
There is nothing like a hug from my daughter after school, a “how’s it going” phone call to my husband during the day, or a random text from one of my kids or a friend. These touches of connection ground me and bring me peace and joy. Taking just a few minutes to connect with loved ones is often just the kick I need to push through to that next item on my list.
