Create a Record – Success Choice Planner {Focus} Training

Create a Record:

Do you want to record your life story but feel intimidated by the thought? It can feel overwhelming to know where and how to start.  I think the best way to start is with today.  The Success Choice Planner is an easy way to start creating a record of your life.

I’m Pamela Henrie, owner of the Success Choice and creator of the Success Choice Planner and Choosing Joy in the Journey Journals.

This Month’s Success Choice Planner focus is “Create a Record.”

Making a personal record is valuable now and later.  By recording noteworthy events and thoughts, you and others can relive happy times and learn from your growth process.

I love this quote in this month’s Success Choice Planner by Rolf Smith.  It says, “Ideas can come from anywhere and at any time.  The problem with making mental notes is that the ink fades rapidly.”

So often I have gone through an impactful experience that I think I will never forget, but I do.  When my children were babies, when I would feed them, I would take that time to write in my planner or journal what was happening that week.  Maybe they rolled over for the first time or slept through the night.  As they got older, I would write down cute things they did or said in my planner so I wouldn’t forget it.

Evaluating what’s working and what’s not creates awareness and puts improvement within your control.

It is easy to compare yourself to others who seem to be doing better at something than you.  But remember, you are only comparing yourself to yourself, and to your potential.  Taking the time to write down your successes and lessons learned helps you to improve and to recognize your growth.

Your planner is the perfect place to create a record of your life, as well as the Choosing Joy in the Journey Journal.

Recording the events of your life doesn’t have to be stressful. If you always have your planner with you, you can jot down thoughts and events at various times throughout the day when you have some down time.

Here are some ways you can record in your planner,

  • Use the “Notes,” “End of Week review,” and “Monthly Log” sections.
  • Write the memorable or inspiring things people say, ideas, things you are grateful for, things you want to change, noteworthy events, etc. You can also make notes or add pictures on your regular weekly layout. Recently my nephew was killed in a motorcycle accident. I made a color copy of the  funeral program and shrunk it 50%.  I cut out and glued the pictures onto the corresponding day of the funeral in my planner.  I did the same thing for a recent wedding with the announcement.
  • It isn’t necessary to write the whole event in your planner. Include where, when, with whom, and a few key sentences to remind you of the whole event.

The Choosing Joy in the Journey Journal is a great place to expound on these thoughts and events.  There are 3 lined journal options, and one dot journal option.  The journals have lined or dotted pages on one side and blank pages on the other.

Don’t forget the index in the back of the planners and journals to help you find these important memories and events later.

This month, I challenge you to use your Success Choice Planner and/or Choosing Joy in the Journey Journal to write down the important events, insights, and memories in your life.  Build the habit of creating a record.

Again, this is Pamela Henrie, owner of the Success Choice and creator of The Success Choice Planner and Choosing Joy in the Journey Planner inviting you to live your life on purpose, with purpose, choosing joy in the journey today.
