Years ago there was a Home Design show I used to like to watch. In one episode, the hosts were talking to the designer as they walked through a newly designed and decorated home. One of the hosts asked the designer how she came up with so many creative ideas. The designer said, "It's not that I have so many ideas; I collect a lot of ideas."
I always keep an eye out for interesting design and decorating ideas, and I keep a file of ideas to refer back to." I have always remembered that suggestion, and I collect ideas I like. I cut out ideas from magazines, or print out ideas from Pinterest and put them in my "Dream Book."
I'm old fashioned, and this time of year I love to turn off the computer and TV and curl up by a crackling fire, magazines scattered around me and cut out pictures of house or yard design or other ideas that appeal to me.
It's cold outside, and where I live the ground is blanketed in snow. It is beautiful, and I love seeing the trees and flowers dusted with snow.
It is nice to have a break from yard work for a season, but January is a great time to dream about how you want your house and yard to look and function, and to make plans for potential projects for the seasons to come.
January is also a great time to order seed catalogs and to start thinking about what you might want to plant. HERE is a list of potential catalogs to get you started.
