When I married my husband more than 17 years ago, it was his and my second marriage. He had four children, and I had one child from a previous marriage.
The first Valentine's day as a combined family, I made crepes and put out all kinds of fun filling options: Strawberries, blueberries, bananas, Nutella, whipped cream, ice cream, etc. The kids loved it. The next year as Valentine's day was approaching, they started asking if we were going to do crepes again. A tradition was born.
This weekend we will be having our 18th Valentine's crepes day. Even though most of our children are grown and have moved out, they all come over for crepes the weekend before Valentine's day. Combining families wasn't easy, but creating traditions has been very bonding and has strengthened our relationships.
What traditions do you already have, and what traditions could you incorporate to strengthen your relationships?
